We are currently a medium-sized charity with 30+ staff and an average of £2-£3milion income each year.

Purpose of the role

This is a brand new position and will be a key role in our communications and engagement team. You will be responsible for providing support across all our communications and campaigns activity, including World Meningitis Day, Meningitis in your words, World Immunization Week and the Meningitis Flag. Alongside our campaigns work, you will also develop regular communications for all channels, including blogs, email, web and social media, as well as being the first point of contact for media.

This role reports directly in to our Communications and Campaigns Manager and is part of the wider Communications & Engagement team.

Responsibilities

  • Create written content for communications and campaigning activity for a range of channels, including email, social media, press and web.
  • Lead on our media monitoring, analysing who is writing what, ensuring we comment and share appropriate news stories across multiple channels, spot opportunities and manage our journalist lists and media enquiries effectively.
  • Develop content that explains who we are and what we do, to reach and engage with multiple audiences.
  • Be the lead on the world's largest collection of meningitis experiences, Meningitis in your words, raising its profile through well-targeted and executed communications, attracting new entries, and ensuring every part of it is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Provide support to our Digital Community Officer on all aspects of social media, including supporting on day-to-day engagement, developing content in line with analysis, responding to the news agenda and working on all campaigns.
  • Work with external suppliers, including designers and videographers, to ensure we have visual content that is on brief and aligns with our communications and campaigns objectives.
  • Support every element of our communications function, so we have well-curated and organised plans, files and toolkits.

Experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in digital marketing , journalism, or related field desired but not essential.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in this field
  • Digital marketing experience across various channels essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management with ability to work autonomously at times
  • Experience working on multiple campaigns at one time
