Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant on behalf of a highly reputable company in the rail infrastructure industry. This role is a 6 month initial contract based at their Poole office on a hybrid basis.
The Management Accountant will be working within a collaborative environment, interacting with Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Finance, and the General Manager, providing a comprehensive understanding of the entire P&L. The Management Accountant will be a key player in supporting the Finance and Commercial Manager, ensuring compliance with financial and commercial procedures and policies. You will be responsible for accurate month-end closing, timely production of documentation and reports, and ensuring accurate data input into Cyberquery (CQ).
Responsibilities:
- Month-end process management (2.5-day close) and produce comprehensive closing files (actuals, forecasts, year-to-date etc.).
- General ledger work and double-entry bookkeeping
- Forecast preparation and adherence to internal forecasting processes
- Timesheet processing
- Production of monthly accounts, forecasts, and budgets, along with associated reporting and control documentation.
- Supporting the management of financial performance to meet or exceed targeted P&L, identifying opportunities and vulnerabilities.
- Preparation of month-end accounts (ensuring adherence to financial reporting guidelines) and production of the management accounting pack.
- Supporting period-end closing activities and the management accounting pack (creating inputs, journals, reconciliations, reports, and variance analysis).
- Collaboration with the Finance and Commercial Manager to produce accurate forecasts and budgets to relevant timescales.
- Close collaboration with project accountants and contract managers to ensure timely task completion, especially around month-end closing.
- Full responsibility for Cyberquery (CQ) for forecast budget resource data including timely uploads data quality and data accuracy.
Key Skills / Experience Required:
- Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA preferred; equivalent experience considered)
- Experience in reporting, budgeting, and controlling processes
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Previous SAP ERP experience is desirable
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Corporate background with experience of tight deadline closing processes
- Balance sheet reconciliation experience
- Understanding key objectives and prioritise your work to meet deadlines, reacting to changing priorities
