We are currently recruiting a Safety Officer for our high-profile housing provider client, to act as a safety expert and Subject Matter Expert to deliver Safety Assurance, Safety Advice, Guidance, and support. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with standards and enhancing the safety culture within our organisation. The Safety Officer will manage audit plans, deliver safety services, and provide expert advice to stakeholders.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Devise and manage audit plans and schedules to deliver the audit program for Safety Assurance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for risk technical areas including Asbestos, Gas Safety, Legionella/Water Management, CDM, and Contractor Safety.
  • Undertake independent programs and actions to implement Safety management across the organisation.
  • Provide expert, professional advice and guidance to stakeholders to fulfil duties in line with statutory requirements.
  • Stay up to date with current and upcoming Safety legislation and policy to support colleagues in compliance.
  • Deliver assurance processes for contractors, consultants, and supply chain partners.
  • Perform technical and analytical audits to provide assurance of performance and advise on remedial works.
  • Evaluate and analyse data from audits, reviews, and inspections and report findings.
  • Deliver comprehensive technical and risk-based Safety training and workshops.
  • Undertake safety investigations and provide proportionate responses to internal and external parties.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of UK Health & Safety Legislation.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Working towards or obtained NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Qualification in Occupational Safety.
  • Certifications such as P405 and P901 for auditing and advising on Asbestos and Legionella standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A ‘can do' attitude with problem-solving skills and a solution-focused approach.
  • Strong record-keeping skills for compliance and the ability to maintain accurate data logs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for influencing and developing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in IT and report writing.
  • Experience in accident/incident investigation and HSE liaison.
  • Ability to write and facilitate training materials and deliver training.
  • Methodical and organised with the ability to travel and stay away from home overnight as required.
