Job title: Renewals Underwriter

Salary: £45,000

Location: Glasgow - Hybrid working is available

Purpose of role:

Your main duty will be to underwrite existing commercial policies for a big name in the market. This role provides numerous development opportunities, giving you exposure to their wide product range, state-of-the-art underwriting platform, and underwriting strategy. This exposure sets the stage for progressing into a senior underwriter role.

Key responsibilities:

  • You'll underwrite our clients' commercial products according to underwriting guides
  • Striving towards monthly targets encompassing profitability, conversion rates, and productivity.
  • Enhance your sales proficiency and grasp of sales and underwriting strategy through collaboration with broader teams and regions.
  • Skilfully negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including designated brokerage contacts.
  • Questioning non-standard underwriting decisions, utilising the knowledge of product specialists and underwriting managers.
  • Demonstrate courage and innovation by identifying process enhancements and suggesting alternative approaches to enhance customer experience and foster profitable growth

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a commercial lines underwriter, with proficiency in Professional Indemnity; familiarity with Management Liability and Cyber is advantageous.
  • A logical and analytical thinker.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting and articulating ideas effectively.
  • Innate ability to build relationships, fostering close rapport with brokers.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the business, exemplifying dedication and commitment by consistently exceeding expectations in a rapidly expanding and demanding sector of the business.
  • Ambitious and self-driven, able to motivate oneself and achieve results.
  • Ideally possess a degree and working towards Diploma CII, or exempt through relevant experience as stipulated by the FCA.
