Hours: 37.5 hours per week, term time only

The opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and ambitious Deputy Headteacher to join our school, working closely with the Headteacher to effectively lead Higford School and deliver our vision, mission and promise.

The overarching responsibility of the Deputy Headteacher will be for ensuring the Quality of Education is high across site. They will also work closely with the established and knowledgeable senior leadership team to ensure smooth running of the school in terms of its strategic and operational responsibilities.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate an outstanding record as a leader and will be able to realise the ambitious vision of securing excellence in every aspect of school life.

About the role

We are looking to appoint an inspiring, dynamic and committed Deputy Headteacher who will join our Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom.

You may have specialist knowledge and experience of working with children with Autism or with social, emotional and mental health needs, or you may have experience of working across both specialisms. You will be expected to create a culture that enables all learners and staff to excel.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will have an excellent understanding of the independent school standards and the education inspection framework. You will promote a relentless focus on the quality of education and delivery of a broad and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of children and young people and produces positive outcomes.

Working with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the school has effective management and the required team capability to further develop and continually improve

About us

Options Higford is a special school set in 28 acres of beautiful Shropshire countryside. We provide a high quality, holistic education for up to 60 autistic students who also have associated behavioural needs. Class groups have five students in with at least 1:1 staffing. We provide personalised curriculums for each student based on their individual needs and aim to support them to make progress academically, socially, with skills for life, regulating their emotions and accessing the community.
