Welfare Assistant Needed

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Welfare Assistant to join a reputable primary school in Wembley starting in September 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for Sick and Injured Children: Provide assistance with personal hygiene, including the cleaning of bodily fluids.
  • First Aid for Adults and Children: Administer first aid and medication according to the school's medical policy, in collaboration with senior leadership and parents.
  • Accident Reporting: Complete daily accident forms, distribute them via the class teacher, and input details into the RM (MIS) system. Notify senior leadership of any head injuries and inform parents of potential concussions.
  • Risk Management: Report any identified risks to senior leadership.
  • Emergency Response: In the case of serious accidents, inform senior staff and parents, request an ambulance if necessary, and record details in the accident book and online reporting system.
  • First Aid Supplies: Ensure first aid boxes are adequately stocked and monitor consumables, reordering as needed.
  • Medical Room Maintenance: Keep the medical room clean and organised, ensuring all equipment and materials are properly stored and medication is clearly labelled and within its expiration date.
  • Intimate Care: Assist with the intimate care of children across the school, in line with school policy.
  • Medical Programmes: Organise and manage any required medical programmes within the school.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young adults
  • Calm and empathetic nature
  • Valid DBS registered with the online update service or willingness to apply for a new one
  • Availability to commit to a 5-day workweek for at least 2-6 months
