Then look no further - We're currently offering an opportunity to work Monday - Thursday at Caterpillar's world class manufacturing plant in Larne. This way, you can enjoy both the long weekend and your job.

In this skilled role you will perform complex electrical tasks and will have the opportunity to develop your communication and interpersonal skills as well as use your initiative. You will interact with hourly and salaried employees and will receive guidance from your Caterpillar Team Leader whilst having the support of an on-site Randstad representative.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Read and interpret complex schematic drawings in order to plan methods and sequence of assembly.
  • Performs diverse functions such wiring, installation, terminations, connecting panels, upfitting cable trays/ladder racks, conduit upfitting, crimping on gensets and enclosures.
  • Use a variety of power tools, hand tools and other equipment.
  • Report malfunctions on equipment.
  • Compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Compliance with the 5S programme and other business improvement initiatives.
  • Display behaviour and conduct fitting with our Values in Action.
  • Train other employees if and when required.
  • Any other appropriate duties.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as an Electrician (Formal Apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 17th/18th edition or equivalent relevant qualification)
  • Previous electrical experience (wiring, installation, terminations, connecting panels, upfitting cable trays/ladder racks, conduit upfitting, crimping)
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience working to defined process times.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work from heights and in an enclosed work area.
  • A keen awareness and commitment to the highest standard of health and safety and quality.
  • A reasonable level of computer literacy would be an advantage but not essential.

Hours of work and salary:

  • Day Shift - £15.06/hr
  • Night Shift - £20.08/hr
  • Overtime - £22.59/hr (First ten hours)
  • Overtime - £30.12/hr (After ten hours overtime)
  • 37.5 hours per week (Mon - Thurs) - Must be prepared to work both day and night shifts as required.
