We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join the team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining continuity in the classroom by ensuring that students are engaged in their learning during teacher absences.

Job Summary:

The Cover Supervisor will provide classroom supervision in the absence of a regular teacher, ensuring that students remain on task with the work that has been set. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and are looking to gain experience working in a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes across various subjects and year groups, managing student behavior and ensuring a constructive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Ensure that students understand and engage with the lesson plans and resources provided by the absent teacher.
  • Implement the school's behavior policy effectively, maintaining good order and discipline among students.
  • Assist students with their work, answer questions, and provide guidance where necessary.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to the role, such as attendance records and reporting any incidents or concerns to the appropriate staff member.
  • Collaborate with other teaching staff to ensure continuity of education and the smooth running of the school day.
  • Provide support during school events, exams, or in other capacities as required by the school.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics is desired.
  • Previous experience in a similar educational setting or working with children is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to manage a classroom effectively, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to fostering a positive learning environment. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
