VIM Melter – job spec
To work in a team operating VIM & VIDP furnaces.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of furnaces through:
- Safe crane handling of electrodes and moulds
- Maintenance of a high standard of housekeeping in line with safety and QA hazard audit requirements.
- Adherence to QA procedures and generating/maintaining prime melt records.
- Charge preparation, charge mixing and furnace loading.
- Refractory preparation.
- Mould preparation, setting and stripping.
- Loading/discharging of large clamshell heat treatment furnaces.
- General crane and forklift truck movements.
Demonstrable Experience of:
- Development/Improvement activities.
- Application of training.
- Positive attitude to safety & quality.
