The purpose of this job is to deliver Occupational Health & Wellbeing services in support of all staff across our Southern England Region, with the need for overnight stays, supported with the provision of a company van and meal allowances. You'll be part of the supportive in-house team, responsible for the delivery of an efficient and effective health surveillance programme and integral working partner for the next phase of Occupational Health and Wellbeing expansion at SGN.

Working within the Health & Safety Directorate, in support of our strategic vision 'Everyone Home Safe and Well', you will have occasional site visits to enhance your working knowledge of the working challenges of our front-line staff and critically, you will be leading a team of OH technicians and signing off their work. Building on established services whilst delivering and supporting initiatives defined within our Wellbeing strategy, you will be referring employees to our EAP, physiotherapy and HR Case Management services when the need arises; proactive and compassionate care is essential. You will support the Lead Occupational Health Adviser and the Head of Occupational Health and Wellbeing in delivering exemplary health and wellbeing services to the business. This role includes remote work, and there is a requirement to travel to multiple sites.

Essential Active & Current Pre-requisites: SCPHN(OH), HAVS Tier 3, Spirometry, audiometry, case management and full driving licence.

What will you be doing day to day?

  • Deliver our health surveillance programme throughout the regulated and non-regulated
  • areas of the business in relation to the specific job role and risks
  • Provide timely, accurate and appropriate advice to the business on all matters relating to
  • health and wellbeing within legal and best practice guidelines
  • Supporting the Lead Nurse and the Head of Service in the development of policies and procedures as the suite of Occupational Health services expands
  • Management of own workload and that of the OH Technicians, maintaining weekly MI and
  • escalating trends or key insights to Head of Service
  • Ability to adapt and flex to competing demands, able to prioritise in a fast-paced and
  • Changeable environment, resilient and resourceful and able to cope with being challenged
  • Actively refer staff to interventions, support services or signposting to maintain or improve
  • their health and wellbeing
  • Working closely with HR and other key stakeholders to ensure Occupational Health delivers
  • to business need, able to collaborate, influence and drive engagement

Case management may be coming in house in 2024/2025 - this will be discussed at interview.

What you'll need

  • The successful candidate must be a qualified Registered Nurse (subpart 1 of NMC register) and Occupational Health Practitioner (SCPHN subpart 3 of the NMC register), have excellent IT literacy and be able to present to a diverse audience remotely and in person using PowerPoint, Teams, Excel, etc.
  • We're also looking for;
  • Experience in delivering health surveillance programmes, including HAVS Tier 3
  • Experience in case management and liaison with HR/Management regarding
  • recommendations - which will support our 2024/25 business growth
  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Experience in delivering and communicating a Wellbeing Programme is desirable
  • Mental Health experience

Use of the Orchid Occupational Health Management System is desirable
