About the role

A fantastic opportunity for a qualified solicitor to join the Boots Legal & Compliance team as a Dispute Resolution Lawyer, based in Nottingham. As trusted advisors, the Boots Legal Team delivers pragmatic and clear legal solutions in partnership with the business. You will sit within the Healthcare Law, Dispute Resolution and Competition Law team reporting to the Senior Dispute Resolution, Investigations and Healthcare Lawyer. You will be responsible for resolving a broad variety of disputes and providing strategic legal advice to all areas of the business.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing a varied case load of commercial and consumer claims from pre-action through to litigation and enforcement, taking a risk-based approach.
  • Advising the Healthcare teams to help resolve pre-action complaints and claims of a clinical nature.
  • Advising the Customer Care team in resolving serious customer complaints and claims.
  • Supporting the Finance teams in the recovery of debt.
  • Providing litigation advice to the business, and influencing stakeholders to make decisions in order to achieve favourable outcomes.
  • Attending Court as a representative of Boots.
  • Identifying any litigation trends and working with the business to address them.
  • Working with the Senior Dispute Resolution, Investigations and Healthcare Lawyer on larger litigation matters.

What you'll need to have

You should:

  • Be a qualified solicitor (NQ to 3 years) with relevant experience.
  • Have experience of litigation/dispute resolution within a law firm or in-house, and be able to work in an autonomous way.
  • Enjoy working on a wide variety of different types of disputes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be proactive in expanding and developing your legal knowledge to keep up to date.
  • Be able to think strategically to support the business and help manage risk.
  • Be an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing, and able to build strong relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Have a passion for working for the UK's number one health and beauty retailer.
