This role is a secondment until 31st March 2025. The current SMI contract, commissioned by NHS will run until at least 31/03/2025 although we are informed by the commissioner that there is a strong possibility that the contract will be extended beyond March 2025 until 28th November 2025. Details of whether the contract will be extended should be confirmed before the end of January 2025.

Although this role is remote working there will be a regular requirement in terms of being present in the Norfolk region for team meeting and engagement events.?

  • At least 6 - 12 months line management experience
  • Ideally Tobacco Cessation or / and experience of managing a health related programme which includes mental health participant groups

What the job is about:

The Health & Wellbeing Manager will be managing a sub-contracted team of Tobacco Cessation SMI coaches (Severe Mental Illness) coaches as we all as one Internal service Coordinator, to achieve a number of quit smoking outcomes across the Norfolk region.

This is a bolt on service to our core Smoke Free Norfolk service which is focused on working with patients who have a diagnosed SMI.

  • Regardless of contract extension there will be a tender opportunity to re procure the SMI service on a longer-term basis either ahead of March 2025 or November 2025 dependant on whether the existing service is extended as mentioned above.

This role will be crucial in terms of supporting our bid to continue with the SMI service longer term.

Required Education Attainments

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent; or
  • A-Level or equivalent attainment plus at least 2 years of high-quality line management experience in a health-related environment.

Required Knowledge & Skills Attainments

  • Knowledge and understanding of key health-related lifestyle services such as diabetes prevention, weight management, smoking cessation, physical inactivity etc.
  • At least 2 years of high-quality management experience in a customer focused, target orientated environment.
  • Demonstrative experience of developing and managing external stakeholder relationships.
  • High level of personal organisation and time management skills.

Desirable Attainments

  • 2 years or more experience of working in a health related environment.
  • Proven ability to manage Supply Chain / sub-contracted delivery to stringent performance and quality targets and/or standards.
  • Demonstrable experience of remote management of teams.
  • Experience of successful delivery of complex public service contracts.

  • Experience of delivering services within a quality assurance and governance framework.
  • Proven ability to work on your own initiative and work effectively as part of a team
  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and database software programmes.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of financial management, including financial planning, financial control and budget monitoring
  • Ability to review programmes and develop new products in line with business needs, national recommendations and industry trends.
  • Experience of interpreting national and regional priorities and aligning them to corporate agendas.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Patient Confidentiality Act and the Data Protection Act.
  • Knowledge and experience of using tried and tested project management methodology to plan, deliver and monitor a project.
