A prestigious hotel in London is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for an interim period of 2-3 months. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance within the hotel industry and be adept at managing financial operations to drive performance and efficiency.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Conduct daily banking, including preparing daily banking reports, reconciling takings, and preparing for collection by courier.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly budget forecasts by analysing current market trends, hotel performance, and upcoming city events that could impact revenue.
  • Consolidate accounts for accuracy and correct charges.
  • Analyse data and accounts to identify performance improvements or deficit reductions.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Director to review revenue outlook and set competitive pricing strategies.
  • Focus on achieving KPIs by providing regular feedback to department heads on spending and payroll in relation to budget and revenue.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare and present month-end and year-end accounts and management reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Process payroll efficiently, including approving timesheets and implementing time-saving measures.
  • Prepare annual budgets with the Financial Director and department heads.
  • Train Operations Support staff to ensure timely and accurate revenue reporting.
  • Design and supervise training programs for staff on the purchase order system to ensure correct cost coding and efficient invoice processing.
  • Manage a small team of 3, setting training and development plans to maintain high standards of work.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Accountant within the hotel sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial operations and key performance indicators in the hospitality industry.
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting abilities.
  • Proficient in financial software and Excel, ideally experience using opera
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage and train staff effectively.
  • Experience in payroll processing and budget preparation.
