Legal Counsel – Logistics – Europe

Our client is a Global Transport and logistics business based in London who is looking for a Legal Counsel to join their busy and expanding team, reporting to the Regional Deputy General Counsel. This is a dynamic, lean, and focused team with large geographic coverage and are looking for a looking for a motivated self-starter who is commercially minded and practical, who takes pride in providing high levels of service to their stakeholders

Paying up to £85,000 your duties will include

  • Advise and assist on advising on transactional, commercial, HR and compliance/regulatory issues in the European region across their logistics businesses.
  • Review, represent, and negotiate a variety of corporate, commercial, and employment-related agreements, in particular relating to logistics customer contracts and related procurement contracts, primarily under English law.
  • Provide or assist in providing strategic legal advice to address additional issues including data privacy and security, intellectual property, tax, labour and employment law.
  • Support regional responses to RFPs and similar opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, senior business leaders, peers, and other business stakeholders in the region.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the other legal teams to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve legal or compliance problems identified in the region.
  • Closely cooperate with other regional and global legal teams to ensure collaboration between legal departments, appropriate awareness of activities, and maintenance of consistent processes and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain good contact with external counsels and legal experts in the region.
  • Assist with the Region expansion, transformation or integration initiatives as required, including support with due diligence, legal entity creation, subsidiary management, internal/affiliate transactions and establishing best practice

Experience and Skills needed

  • Academic credentials: qualified in England & Wales potentially EU credentials will be considered
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in relevant areas, with strong emphasis on general corporate and/or commercial contracts. Familiarity with GDPR regulation and TUPE issues is required, as well as experience with works councils.
  • In-house experience in a commercial organization (logistics industry strongly preferred).
  • Strong transaction management skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
  • Fluent/professional working proficiency in English;
  • Proficiency in any other additional European languages is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic economic and accounting principles and practices.
