QHSE Manager

Xenial consulting are currently working with a market-leading construction business who are currenty seeking an experienced QHSE Manager to join them on a permanent basis. This newly created role will form part of the senior management team for the business and the successful candidate will be responsible for multiples depots across the country. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Creation and implementation of best practice quality and environmental strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
  • Review company IMS procedures, SOPs and ensure consistent application of these across the company
  • Maintain the register of relevant legislation, standards and documents, as required by ISO standards
  • Responsibility for all document management and controls for all areas covered by the IMS
  • Review and report on the corrective action and non-conformity reporting for all areas covered by the IMS
  • Review and respond to all customer complaints with relevant staff
  • Implement and review internal audit programme for all areas of the company covered by the ISO standards
  • Coordinate external audits by NQA, Achilles and major customers
  • Develop/review carbon reduction plan to meet our objectives
  • Maintain the impacts/aspects register for all chemicals/oils and emission processes
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and emergent issues in environmental matters
  • Develop strategies to reduce our impact upon the environment
  • Oversight and analysis of the annual stocktake and processes
  • Responsibility for UKCA/CE marking for relevant equipment
  • Manage online training platform and content; ensure company training matrix is kept up to date
  • Initiating and monitoring the competency training programme for staff involved with completing ROTELs
  • Authorise external training courses for staff
  • Work with the Board of Directors to devise and deliver the health & safety strategy
  • Act as a responsible person for all H&S matters across the company
  • Lead the continuous improvement of health and safety policy and governance arrangements to ensure compliance with legislation, minimise risk and support company requirements
  • Ensure management controls are in place so that everyone is aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities
  • Ensure accidents and incidents are investigated, reported and reviewed as necessary, making recommendations where appropriate and filing any statutory reports (RIDDOR) with the authorities, including liaison with HSE/local environmental health
  • Ensure the RAMS and COSHH matrices are kept up to date; ensure all assessments are periodically reviewed
  • Responsible for ensuring that health surveillance is carried out on an annual basis
  • Support communication and consultation on H&S issues. Run or assist with companywide campaigns and initiatives for the positive promotion of health, safety and wellbeing
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety Committee and expert resources such as first aiders
  • Identify trends and emergent health, safety and wellbeing issues
  • Responsibility for UKCA/CE marking for relevant equipment
  • Initiating and monitoring the competency training programme for staff involved with completing ROTELs

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years experience of working in a QHSE management role within a construction/manufacturing environment
  • Extensive experience/knowledge related to ISO procedures
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering H&S improvements
  • Relevant qualification/certification e.g. NEBOSH; Member of IOSH or a minimum of general certificate level
  • Demonstrable experience of auditing and 3rd party certificationR
  • Self-motivated and strong organisational skills
