Position: Senior Accounts Payable Specialist
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Location: North London
Employment Type: Full-time / Office Based

We are seeking a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. This position is perfect for someone who values wellbeing, inclusion, and opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and promptly process a high volume of purchase invoices.
  • Manually handle a large number of purchase invoices.
  • Maintain and update purchase ledger accounts accurately.
  • Ensure all expenses are authorised by the appropriate party before payment.
  • Record supplier invoices, expenses, and credit card costs accurately and promptly.
  • Regularly request and reconcile supplier statements.
  • Respond to supplier inquiries regarding expenses or invoicing in a timely manner.
  • Keep filing organised and up to date on a weekly basis.
  • Manage internal query escalations and serve as the initial point of contact for the AP team.
  • Conduct weekly payment runs and reconcile supplier ledgers.
  • Ensure correct allocation and recording of nominal and departmental codes.
  • Perform daily bank postings and reconcile multiple bank accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve queries.
  • Maintain communication and relationships with suppliers.
  • Analyse and investigate aged creditors reports.
  • Manage journal entries and post petty cash.
  • Process expense and mileage claims.
  • Maintain the mailbox and ensure proper filing of documentation.
  • Allocate payments and issue remittances.
  • Request invoices for any payments on account.

Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 2-3 years of experience in finance.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong task management and prioritisation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Pragmatic and logical approach to problem-solving.
