Are you motivated by supporting and helping children with additional needs?

We are looking for a commited Learning Support Assistant to work on-on-one with children that moderate learning difficulties and additional mental health needs. This schools needs an SEMH Learning Support Assistant that is confident in Mathmetics to help support pupils with thier development in this subject. They are an autism- specific school based in Hassocks for children aged 11-19. They are the proud to state that they are the winners of the ISA SEND school of the year for 2023.

You will be working in partnership with the school's teaching staff and therapists to deliver specific interventions that aim to boost students' learning, development and well-being. You will make a real difference to the lives of the children, gaining vital experience which will enable you to kick-start your future career.

This role will give you essential experience within a challenging yet rewarding setting - career progression routes include SEN Teacher, Occupational Therapist and various Psychology routes.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Help children understand instructions.
  • Develop pupils understanding in Mathmatics.
  • Support children during social activities and outings.
  • Encourage communication and also look after their physical needs.
  • Prepare and provide learning materials.

Requirements of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Impose patience and understanding.
  • Always be adaptable in any give situation.
  • Be able to develop strong and positive relationships with children.
  • Committed to working as part of a team.
  • Confident in Mathmatics (a high GCSE grade or even a degree in Mathmatics).
