We are looking for a dedicated Hydraulic Engineer with expertise in forklift mechanics and hydraulic hose systems. Hydraulic Engineer / Forklift Mechanic

  • Location: Hull, HU12
  • Job Type: Full-time 40 (With opportunity for up to 50 hours per week)
  • Salary: £15.50 - £17.50 / £32,240- £50,375 per year

Day-to-day of the role:

Mobile Service:

  • Operate the mobile hose repair and hydraulic diagnostic van to provide on-site services.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic hose systems at client locations.

Workshop Duties:

  • Work safely on hydraulic equipment including stripping and building hydraulic cylinders, motors, pump assemblies, and valves.
  • Perform detailed inspections and quality checks on hydraulic components.
  • Maintain the hydraulic mechanic workshop and mobile van, managing workshop & mobile van fittings, oils, and consumables.
  • Follow the hydraulic shop's open and shut down procedures.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify issues with hydraulic systems.
  • Understand engineering principles and hydraulic faults to perform repairs accordingly.

Maintenance and Installation:

  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of hydraulic hose systems.
  • Develop and follow maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Plan work methods, prioritizing safety, job completion times, and quality products.
  • Manage own workload in conjunction with the machine shop.
  • Complete accurate timesheets.

Training and Development:

  • Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in hydraulic technology.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all work adheres to industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols and guidelines for handling and installing hydraulic hoses.
  • Adhere to all company rules, procedures, and policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience in hydraulic systems and forklift mechanics.
  • Ability to operate hydraulic test beds, hose swagers, and general workshop equipment.
  • Effective operation of forklifts and heavy-handling equipment.
  • Ability to weld hydraulic cylinder parts is preferred.
  • Transferable skills across engineering departments.
