Your part in the performance:

  • At our bustling head office on Holgate Park Drive we currently require a sous chef to join the kitchen team. This role offers the opportunity to be an integral part of a small team in our well-equipped café and bar. We offer high quality, yet good value, lunches, sandwiches and snacks, alongside occasional corporate hospitality when required.
  • The successful applicant will be working closely with our experienced head-chef, as well as playing an instrumental part in the day-to-day operation. Responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the Head Chef to run the kitchen
  • Keeping high standards of H&S and F&H
  • Assisting with stock control and reporting
  • Building a good rapport with customers
  • Contributing towards imaginative and healthy menus
  • Serving food to valued members of Gear4Music staff
  • Ensuring the canteen and kitchen are kept to a high standard
  • Assisting with high-level corporate functions

The hours for this role will be 07:30am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday ( No regular weekends or evenings!)
From time to time there will also be some additional shifts required to cover functions held in the company bar and café area (usually once a month, no weekends).

Your Skills and Experience: What We're Looking For

  • Salary £25-27k depending on experience
  • A passion for good food quality
  • NVQ Level 2 in food preparation or similar City & Guilds
  • An excellent understanding of H&S and F&H regulations
  • Basic financial and commercial awareness
  • Working closely with a small team of kitchen assistants
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to be flexible including occasional out of normal hours working
