LINE MANAGER: HEAD OF LEARNING SUPPORT

HOURS OF WORK: 13.25 hours per week, term-time only, fixed term until 2 nd July 2025

TIMES OF WORK: Hours to be worked over 3 / 4 days, most likely mornings. Some flexibility to be discussed with candidate.

SALARY: Dependent on experience & qualifications, commensurate with industry standards.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving Prep School as a Learning Support Assistant for a fixed term of one academic year to work on a one to one basis with a pupil in Upper KS2.

We are seeking a caring and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide one to one support in a classroom setting. You will be supported by the Learning Support department under the direction of the Head of Learning Support.

This role would suit a proactive and committed individual who has previous experience of working with pupils with special educational needs. Excellent interpersonal skills will be required to form effective working relationships with people at all levels of the School. Enthusiasm and reliability are crucial.

We can be flexible with the working days. We require13.25 hours of assistance per week.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

TEACHING AND LEARNING:

  • Provide individualised support to a pupil in Upper Key Stage 2 under the direction of the Head of Learning Support
  • To work closely with the pupil, teachers and Head of Learning Support to implement strategies, ensuring the pupil's individual needs are met effectively
  • Provide one to one support during lessons, assisting the pupil with the completion of tasks • Provide support inside and outside the classroom to enable the pupil to participate fully in activities
  • Carry out interventions and maintain records • Assist the learning support team with updating and maintaining resources
  • Assist in the development of social, intellectual, language, numerical and manipulative skills through the use of appropriate multisensory materials/resources, such as books, musical instruments, computer hardware/software and other educational materials
  • Attend to the personal needs of pupil as required and assist in the maintenance of a healthy, safe and hygienic environment
  • Observe the pupil's work and log outcomes of observation and supervise practical activities
  • Help to raise the self esteem of children receiving support
  • Contribute to the promotion of positive relationships and a positive ethos within the classroom

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
  • Provide a supportive social and emotional environment for children, parents and staff

OTHER:

  • Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school
  • Attend all necessary staff training and meetings
  • Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety
  • Supervise children during breaks
