About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join an inclusive and supportive team in Bedford. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with special educational needs by providing tailored learning experiences and fostering an environment where every child can thrive.

As an SEN Teacher in the education and training sector within Bedford, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with a range of learning difficulties, including autism, ADHD, and emotional and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with support staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure that each student receives the necessary support to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teacher:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that meet the individual learning needs of students
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Monitor and assess students' progress, providing regular feedback to parents and caregivers
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals, including SENCOs, teaching assistants, and external agencies
  • Promote emotional and social development alongside academic learning
  • Ensure that all pupils are supported in achieving their personal and educational goals

Requirements for a SEN Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism or experience in SEN
  • A deep understanding of different special educational needs and the ability to adapt teaching methods accordingly
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to teaching
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and ensuring equal opportunities for all students
  • Experience with or knowledge of relevant SEN frameworks and legislation (e.g., EHCPs)
