Works Manager

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum with regular reviews
We are looking for an experienced Works Manager to join a market-leading company in the material handling equipment industry. This is a critical position created due to the company's ongoing expansion and increased operational demands. As Works Manager, you'll bring strong leadership skills to unite and guide cross-functional teams, optimise plant operations, and drive overall efficiency. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll have around 12 direct reports and will be encouraged to implement strategic improvements and grow within the company.
In this role, you'll take on full site responsibility, overseeing production, maintenance, and facility management to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement. Your understanding of welding, hydraulics, mechanical assembly, and process optimisation will be invaluable in addressing challenges and enhancing workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee site operations and manage workflow across production, maintenance, and facility management.
- Allocate resources to meet production goals and operational deadlines.
- Maximise efficiency to ensure customer delivery requirements are consistently met.
- Monitor and report operational performance directly to the Managing Director.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance plant efficiency and reduce costs, focusing on product design and component selection.
- Resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
- Conduct performance appraisals, manage employee development and training, and enforce site-wide safety protocols.
- Strengthen interdepartmental relationships to foster a collaborative work environment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe workplace.
Required Skills:
- Proven leadership with the ability to engage and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Extensive technical knowledge in fabrication, welding, boring, milling, hydraulic mechanical assembly, and electronic control systems.
- Demonstrated experience in a Works Manager or similar role with responsibility for end-to-end plant operations.
