Role Details: Senior EstimationManager

Location: Cambridge Area

Primary Purpose: Leading a team of estimators, performing detailed estimations, and managing commercial aspects of our projects. To quote for new sales enquiries for complex machined components as part of the Sales Team goal to achieve the annual sales budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring high performance, professional development, and adherence to company standards.
  • Conduct precise and detailed estimations for complex engineering projects, including materials, labour, and overhead costs.
  • Develop and implement best practices for estimation processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Handle commercial management tasks including cost analysis, budgeting, contract review, and negotiations.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their requirements, provide accurate quotes, and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scopes and financial objectives.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project estimations, budgets, and financial performance to senior management.
  • Ensure all estimation activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Person Specification

Skills/ Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimation within the engineering sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
  • Professional certifications in estimation or project management are a plus.
  • Leadership and team management.
  • Exceptional analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in estimation software and tools.
  • In-depth understanding of precision engineering processes and materials.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience with contract management
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
