Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist (***£3000 Golden Hello Bonus T&C's Apply)

Salary: £46,224 - £53,789 ( up to £27.50 per hour)

As a Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing essential speech and language therapy within our clients Neurobehavioural model for individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI). You will lead the SaLT provision, consulting with internal and external professionals, family members, and those they support.
Responsibilities:

  • Apply neurobehavioral approaches to brain injury, incorporating current research and best practices.
  • Manage and prioritise a caseload of individuals with complex mental/physical health needs and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Use evidence-based practices to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to formulate appropriate rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication, and dysphagia therapy programs, and referrals.
  • Overcome communication barriers to engage individuals in assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
  • Seek consent to include and share information with family, carers, and other stakeholders, respecting confidentiality.
  • Provide information about individuals' communication abilities and support needs.
  • Complete swallowing assessments, provide recommendations, care plans, referrals, and staff training for safe dysphagia management.
  • Comply with risk management and safeguarding responsibilities, identifying and acting on improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory, informing the service manager of replacement needs.
  • Maintain registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council, complying with their portfolio requirements.

About You:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Achieved Dysphagia Competencies.
  • Extensive experience in hospital or residential settings.
  • Specialist knowledge of SaLT models and interventions in ABI.
  • Knowledge and experience of speech and language therapy outcome measures.
  • Minimum 4 years qualified experience with complex case management.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with adults with neurological conditions or 4+ years post-registration experience in an alternative clinical setting.
