Position: Female Engagement Coordinator - Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must be female, in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

Location: Burnt Oak, London, HA8 0DT

Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 pro rata dependent on experience

Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2025

Hours: 20 hours per week (including evenings and weekends) -0.5 FTE

Closing Date: Noon on Friday 23 August

About the Role:

You will be working for a youth charity committed to providing a safe and inspiring place for all young people. The role of Female Engagement Coordinator is pivotal in planning and delivering initiatives aimed at increasing female participation in the charity's senior sessions for 13-19-year-olds (up to 25 for those with additional needs).

The charity's goal is to shift the current male/female ratio from 80%/20% to 65%/35% by March 2025, ultimately aiming for a balanced 50%/50%. You will be responsible for creating innovative programs that attract new female members and enhance the engagement of current members. This role includes outreach work, organising female-only activities, and occasionally leading sessions, including a dedicated female-only session on Sunday afternoons.

About You:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced youth worker with a proven track record in engaging young women and girls. You should have strong project management skills, be adept at duty management, and be capable of supporting young people who may face social or emotional barriers.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Direct experience in working with children and young people aged 8 years and above, both in groups and individually.

  • Previous work with young women and girls.
  • Project management experience.
  • Duty management experience.
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with all young people, including those who are disengaged or disadvantaged.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to deliver high-quality activity programs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding best practices and commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and a role model for young people.
  • Flexible attitude towards work, including the ability to work evenings, weekends, and cover for events or staff absence.
