FINANCE MANAGER

REPORTING TO: Financial Controller

Working closely as part of a small team in this exciting SME on the outskirts of Colchester, the Finance Manager will support the Financial Controller in a range of reporting and general accounting tasks along with other ad hoc responsibilities. The position is varied and can offer an increased scope of work as the individual progresses, with regular exposure to the CFO.

Responsible for:

  • Purchase invoice upload processing (automated matching) and supplier statement reconciliation
  • Processing of credit card transactions
  • Tracking and processing of revenue, issuing statements to clients, communicating with client accounts payable departments
  • Calculation of prepayments/accruals/deferred income, liaising with other departments as appropriate
  • Presenting formal pack of balance sheet reconciliations to the Financial Controller for review
  • Ensuring adherence to day to day controls and processes
  • Posting of project costing transactions, and preparation of project cost reports for review by Financial Controller
  • Assisting with management accounts, overhead budgets and variance analysis
  • Assisting with year end audit preparation and tax analysis
  • Various ad hoc projects relating to project costing and the cost base generally inc resource utilisation, property utilisation, project deep-dives etc.

Person specification:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA
  • Background in accountancy practice/audit strongly preferred.
  • Accurate, self-starting, conscientious, motivated, approachable.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and superb attention to detail.
  • Excel skills to include pivots, IF functions etc as a minimum (further training support provided beyond this).
  • Previous experience of Sage advantageous but not essential.
  • Salary and role development commensurate with experience. Study support available if required after probationary period.

Salary: £40-45k dependent on qualifications and experience

Location & hours: Fully office based, Mon-Fri, 9am-5.30pm
