Strategy Business Director

We are seeking an experienced Business Director - Strategy to join our client's team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in driving media strategy development, media planning best practices, consumer engagement strategies, and thought leadership for key categories in the FMCG sector. The successful candidate will work hand-in-hand with the Strategy Partner, collaborating with a diverse team of specialists to craft impactful strategies that drive business growth across multiple markets.

You will also be connected to the wider Global Strategy Team, working across a range of multinational clients to design unified brand experiences that adapt to cultural and human differences. Leveraging the power of media platforms, you will engage with audiences across cultures, countries, and continents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the single point of contact for senior clients, leading media strategy development, media planning best practices, consumer engagement strategies, and thought leadership.
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategy Partner and agency specialists to develop and deliver media strategies that align with both central/global and local strategic requirements.
  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with senior clients, providing strategic recommendations and proactive thinking that drives the business forward.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive media strategies across multiple markets, ensuring that they reflect both brand-building and performance-focused objectives.
  • Develop strong relationships with creative agency teams to integrate media and messaging effectively, creating campaigns that are both impactful and award-worthy.
  • Drive collaboration with specialized teams, including Data Strategy & Insights, Digital Transformation, Innovation & Invention, and Commerce, to continuously elevate the quality and impact of our work.
  • Shape client briefs, establish clear KPIs, and ensure accountability in achieving defined success metrics.
  • Provide thought leadership and inspiration for clients, identifying new opportunities to define and engage with core audiences, and showcasing emerging media and platform offerings.
  • Participate in forums, conferences, and networking events to build relationships, share best practices, and represent the agency.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working at a large media agency
  • FMCG experience
  • Experienced in cross channel media planning into strategy
  • Proven track record of leading data and insights-driven media and communication strategies, particularly in an agency environment.
  • Strong understanding of how to connect brand-building efforts with performance-focused media strategies.
  • Independent, proactive self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present and influence at the senior client level.
  • Experience in distilling complex business challenges into clear, concise media strategic briefs.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement media strategies across multiple markets, understanding the nuances between global and local requirements.
  • Strong storytelling abilities, capable of delivering clear, actionable recommendations on complex business issues.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and inspiring teams across different cultures, continents, and capabilities.
  • Familiarity with syndicated research tools and consumer research methodologies (e.g., TGI, eMarketer, WARC).
