Reed is proud to be working with a leading global insurer, who currently has a vacancy for a Senior Underwriter. They are an award-winning business who are renowned for their inclusive team culture, and will support your development and career aspirations.

You will be a valued part of the growing underwriting team and will be responsible for underwriting/managing a portfolio of new business Property and Casualty risks - offering exceptional service to customers.

Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to coach and mentor new starts and junior members of the team.

Roles are 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, hours between 9:00am – 5:00pm

Salary is between £48,000 and £70,000 depending on experience, plus bonus.

You will be based in their Manchester or Leeds office, though flexible and hybrid working is available.

What will you be doing?

  • Underwrite new Property and Casualty risks
  • opportunity to coach and mentor new starts and junior members of the team.
  • Negotiate with brokers and clients to ensure the best possible terms and conditions for the company
  • Manage relationships with brokers and clients, providing excellent customer service and maintaining high levels of satisfaction
  • Evaluate and analyse risk information to determine appropriate coverage and pricing
  • Monitor and analyse industry trends, regulatory changes, and other relevant information to stay up-to-date on the property insurance market
  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve business objectives and profitability goals
  • Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters and other members of the underwriting team
  • Work closely with other departments such as claims, legal, and finance to ensure effective risk management and profitability

About you:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Property or Casualty underwriting
  • Strong technical knowledge of property underwriting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
