Locum Social Worker - Childrens Services

Responsibilities:
- Once in post, you will safeguard children and young people from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
- You will safeguard children where reports of neglect are reported.
- You may gather information from various sources, including the child, family members, schools, healthcare providers and other relevant parties, to evaluate the level of risk and determine appropriate interventions.
- You will aim to effectively develop and implement child protection plans aimed at mitigating risks and ensuring the safety of children.
- You may participate in case meetings and court proceedings as necessary.
- Once working with your caseload, you will become an advocate for the best interests of the child and ensuring that safeguarding measures are effectively implemented.
- You may engage in preventative work, such as delivering training & awareness-raising initiatives within communities, schools and other settings to promote early identification of risks and improve safeguarding practices.
We take a motivational approach to supporting families under the Family Safeguarding model. This is a strength based model and includes a multi-agency approach to working with children and families. We have brought together Social Workers, Family Support Workers and a range of adult practitioners; Domestic Abuse Practitioners, Recovery Workers, Mental Health Practitioners and Psychologists so that the whole team can work together to address all the issues facing a family. Having professionals from different disciplines working under one roof, our teams are able to?work closely together, minimising the time spent on making referrals to other agencies for support.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children and families in a social work setting, for a minimum of three years.
- A degree in social work with completion of ASYE.
- Registration with Social Work England as a Qualified Social Worker.
- A valid UK drivers license, with access to own car & ability to travel nationally.
- Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to identify risks and develop effective intervention plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
- A commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.
