?? Location: White Rose House, Northallerton, DL6 2NA (with site travel across Selby, Harrogate & Richmondshire)

? Contract: 18-Month Initial Contract (Likely Extension)

?? Pay Rate: £26.38/hour (Umbrella)

?? Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday

??? About the Role

We are working with North Yorkshire Council to recruit experienced Building Surveyors to support a major housing stock condition review project in partnership with Align Property Services (APS).

You will carry out building condition surveys across council-owned housing (domestic/residential), reporting on property condition, disrepair, compliance risks, and maintenance needs. Your input will directly inform the council's planned maintenance and asset strategy.

?? Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed condition surveys on council housing stock
  • Identify structural defects, damp, disrepair, and compliance issues
  • Make recommendations for repairs, refurbishment, or investment planning
  • Input survey findings using mobile devices/handheld IT systems
  • Liaise with the APS team, council departments, and property managers
  • Ensure compliance with housing standards and relevant legislation

? Requirements

  • Proven experience in building surveying or housing stock assessments
  • Strong knowledge of social housing condition standards, building pathology, and asset management
  • Qualified with a degree or HNC in Building Surveying, Construction, or similar
  • MRICS/CIOB chartership preferred but not essential
  • Must have a UK driving licence and be comfortable travelling to multiple sites

This is a field-based role with site visits required across Selby, Harrogate, and Richmondshire. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
