??? About the Role
We are working with North Yorkshire Council to recruit experienced Building Surveyors to support a major housing stock condition review project in partnership with Align Property Services (APS).
You will carry out building condition surveys across council-owned housing (domestic/residential), reporting on property condition, disrepair, compliance risks, and maintenance needs. Your input will directly inform the council's planned maintenance and asset strategy.
?? Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed condition surveys on council housing stock
- Identify structural defects, damp, disrepair, and compliance issues
- Make recommendations for repairs, refurbishment, or investment planning
- Input survey findings using mobile devices/handheld IT systems
- Liaise with the APS team, council departments, and property managers
- Ensure compliance with housing standards and relevant legislation
? Requirements
- Proven experience in building surveying or housing stock assessments
- Strong knowledge of social housing condition standards, building pathology, and asset management
- Qualified with a degree or HNC in Building Surveying, Construction, or similar
- MRICS/CIOB chartership preferred but not essential
- Must have a UK driving licence and be comfortable travelling to multiple sites
