Band 5 Mental Health Nurse

We need passionate and experienced mental health nurse to work in a well-established team at an acute hospital in the East England, to assist and supporting general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.

Description

The ideal candidate will have a commitment to teamwork, a sense of accountability, and the ability to work under pressure. The post holder will provide quality, evidence-based nursing advice, support, and care for service users with mental and physical health needs, and to their carers within a multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

As key members of the rehabilitation team, the Registered Nurses:

  • Provide a high standard of individualized, holistic, and evidence-based patient-focused nursing using the nursing process.
  • Act as a vital link between patients, carers, relatives, and therapists to ensure a consistent focus on patient outcomes.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care and treatment.
  • Ensure Expected Date of Discharge (EDD) is set through negotiation between patient, carer, team, and internal/external agencies to achieve a safe and effective discharge that closely meets the patient's needs.
  • Actively promote reflective practice within the team, questioning clinical practice and taking appropriate action where gaps in knowledge or experience may compromise the health and safety of others.
  • Adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.
  • Provide patients and their families/carers with information on standards they should expect from the team.

Skills

  • Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD / Adult) appropriate to the job role
  • Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to manage change, organize, and prioritize workloads
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance care through evidence-based knowledge
  • Professional development relevant to the care group
  • Ability to assess and manage clinical risk
