Mechanical Engineer

Our client is a world leader in developing and delivering environmental and engineering solutions across multiple industries and they specialise in emissions-control, heat transfer, mass transfer products, and clean-air systems, supporting industries to operate more cleanly and efficiently.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to assist in the mechanical design of packaged equipment, including structures, vessels, and piping to join their team based in Stoke-on-Trent in a Contract role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical components for process packages, including pressure vessels, structures, and piping, or coordinate with design disciplines to ensure timely submission of all related deliverables.
  • Prepare initial design inputs for mechanical designers and subsequently review and approve engineering outputs including General Arrangement and detailed drawings.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, project specifications, and best engineering practices.
  • Manage client interactions regarding technical clarifications and design modifications until resolution.
  • Participate in key organizational meetings such as Kick-Off Meetings, progress updates, and design reviews as required.
  • Maintain adherence to company procedures and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality throughout project lifecycles.

The successful candidate will be integral in ensuring designs meet strict standards and project specifications, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage design issues and ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer, specifically within mechanical systems involving pressure vessels, piping, equipment, and structural components.
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas, Chemicals, or Petrochemicals industries or related.
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel design software such as PV Elite, Finglow, Compress, and piping stress analysis tools like Caesar or similar.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialised experience in designing and implementing integrated mechanical packages.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time, within budget, achieving both quality standards and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of GRP piping design, welding techniques, and associated documentation is desirable.
