Course Team Leader: Construction and the Built Environment and HE

We are looking for a Course Team Leader for Construction and the Built Environment and Higher Education (HE) to join our School of Engineering – Engineering Technology & Innovation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective curriculum management of a range of programmes, including T Levels, BTEC L2 & L3 Built Environment, Construction Management, and Civil Engineering, as well as teaching across these programmes from Level 1 to Level 5.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Teach across a range of programmes within the Section from Level 1 to Level 5.
  • Prepare course handbooks, schemes of work, lesson plans, and resource materials for teaching programmes.
  • Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
  • Assess students' progress regularly, including the timely marking of work and giving feedback.
  • Attend team meetings and College events as directed by managers.
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure that new members of staff are fully apprised of requirements.
  • Participate in the College's staff appraisal scheme.
  • Liaise with Administrators/Assessors/Managers to ensure prompt registration of learners on correct BTEC qualifications.
  • Organise and/or attend meetings involving lecturers, assessors, verifiers, etc., to ensure quality assurance of HE provisions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g., DET, PGCE).
  • Experience of teaching in the subject area successfully for at least 2 years.
  • Ability to plan courses, timetables, and work schedules.
  • Experience of leading/supervising a team.
  • Experience of organising and implementing quality systems and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of Apprenticeship frameworks/standards, NVQ construction pathways, and Level 3/4/5 programmes.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use IT/e-learning effectively, including the ability to deliver effective online teaching, learning, and assessment.
