Planner and Scheduling Coordinator Job in Christchurch
We are working with a well-established and long-standing company in the Christchurch area, in recruiting for a Planner and Scheduling Coordinator to join their team. The Planner and Scheduling role will involve identifying production requirements for all current and imminent projects and maintaining a fabrication programme to ensure work is completed by required dates.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Planner and Scheduling Coordinator
- Keeping a plan of available capacity in the factory
- Estimating capacity required to fabricate particular projects/elements of projects
- Identifying in advance periods of under-capacity or over-capacity and bringing this to the attention of the director responsible
- Assisting in identifying suitable sub contract fabricators and supporting the director responsible in negotiating agreements for sub contract fabrication, when required
- Establishing, communicating and monitoring key activity dates to ensure production proceeds on time, such as drawing issue dates, material purchase and delivery deadlines, despatch and return dates
- Monitoring the actual progress of work against fabrication plan and taking actions to ensure required deadlines can still be met
- Escalating problems in meeting planned dates to the responsible manager
- Attending project launch meetings to establish fabrication requirements for projects and attending weekly progress meetings to report on progress
- Agreeing with the Drawing Office a schedule of dates for issue of drawings, materials lists and requisitions in order to meet the Fabrication Programme and monitoring/chasing timely issue of these in order to meet the required dates
- Liaising with the Material Purchasing Manager to ensure materials are available on the correct dates and in the correct location to meet the requirements
- Liaising with the Works Manager to agree which work packages will be issued to which workshops and monitoring the actual progress of work against the programme
- Liaising with the difference departments about project requirements
- Liaising with sub contractors to coordinate and supervise their work
Minimum Skills and Experience Required:
- Experience working within an administrative capacity
- Excellent organisational and forward planning skills
- Attention to detail
- Good communication across all business departments
- Proactive to respond to any potential issues
Salary and Benefits:
- A salary of £28,000 - £34,000 DOE
- Working Monday to Friday 8.15 am - 5.00 pm
