Assistant Accountant - Andover - Full-time, Permanent - Pay: £32,000 -£35,000 per annum
Reed is delighted to present an opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join a family-run material supplier that is dedicated to providing top-quality products and services to various sectors. This role is based in a modern office setting in Andover, featuring a well-equipped kitchen, breakout room, and even a pool table, fostering a vibrant work environment.
Day to Day of the role:
- Take ownership of all aspects of Purchase Ledger transactions using Merlin software.
- Manage the setup of new suppliers and the posting of supplier invoices.
- Handle the raising and making of supplier payments through BACS.
- Conduct posting and reconciliation of staff expenses.
- Perform VAT reconciliation and quarterly submissions.
- Execute bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including interpreting, challenging, and analysing variances.
- Post accruals and prepayment journals, and close monthly and yearly nominal ledgers.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive best practices and process efficiencies.
- Promote and maintain strong relationships with the purchasing team and other business units.
- Recommend operational improvements and deliver accurate month-end reporting across 4 legal entities.
- Assist in month-end analysis and commentary.
- Maintain financial control ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar Assistant Accountant role.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using Merlin or similar financial applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- AAT or equivalent qualification, or qualified by experience.
- Not currently studying for further qualifications.
