My client is a hugely respected, Hertfordshire based secondary academy that enjoys strong links to the local community and close knit support team.
An experienced School Business Manager is required to provide professional leadership and direction to the various support function teams. In detail the role centres on the day to day finances of school, managing income and expenditure, budget setting and monitoring, cashflow reporting as well as statutory reporting to external bodies. You'll ensure best value for money on products, suppliers and services to the school. You'll oversee other areas within the support functions, working closely with HR, Administration, Operations and Premises teams. On the IT side, you'll work with the third party provider of IT services, ensuring that the schools IT requirements are always fulfilled.
You will also work closely with the school leadership team to develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes and support staff development. You'll enjoy the early autonomy in such a role and make a substantial contribution to the schools as part of SLT
The successful applicant will bring their undoubted experience of working as a bursar or school business / school finance manager to help guide the senior management team into the future. You will be highly motivated, credible and be able to demonstrate the ability to lead and drive improvements within the business functions of the school. It is important to have the ability to work well as part of a team but have the confidence and skill-set to work independently. You will be an effective communicator and have the ability to work well with stakeholders and staff at all levels. Formal finance qualifications or DSBM qualifications would highly substantiate your application.
