This change will focus on improving the customer experience, making the process more efficient and accelerating customer connections as we move towards net zero. Our involvement in various ENA and CUSC working groups associated to delivering on the CAP and wider Connections Reforms is vital for managing upcoming changes in network connections.

You will have experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, change management as well as having great organisational and time management skills.

Other roles & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a specific portfolio of workstreams and develop, review, and maintain the commercial policy associated with all aspects of connections, whilst ensuring compliance with company policy, licence conditions and national and international standards across distribution.
  • Assist in identifying, designing and implementing new processes required as part of the delivery of the Connections Action Plan or wider Connections Reform programme.
  • Working closely with both internal and external parties to ensure changes in processes and systems are robust and communicated effectively.
  • Attend and in some cases lead internal working groups and attend or provide input into external meetings with senior level people from both SSEN and across the industry.
  • Stay up to date and informed regarding industry and policy changes that will impact the Connections space and ensure that processes, systems and policy are fit for purpose going forward.

You'll also have opportunities to attend industry events and forums with third parties such as Government, BEIS, Ofgem, NESO and other network companies to discuss policy and related issues.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Industry experience and an appreciation of connections processes/knowledge of the Connections landscape, including the reform work as well as an understanding of engineering and commercial processes for assessing connections to networks.
  • The ability to absorb large amounts of industry information and align to appropriate stakeholder reports/communication media.
  • A track record of building effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to understand and work with Ofgem reporting frameworks, consultation groups and advisory panels.
  • A high level of IT literacy and working knowledge of the main MS Office applications, along with an analytical approach that allows you to easily interrogate and analyse data to inform policy decisions and direction.
