GIS Mapper & Build Assurance Engineer

We have an excellent opportunity for a GIS mapper & Build Assurance Engineer (BAE) based in Wiltshire.

You will manage compliance across health and safety, quality, and the environmental aspects of the rural FTTP build and ultimately be responsible for its successful completion.

You must be a strong communicator and have excellent attention to detail.

The primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Review in progress and as-built documentation, checking compliance with build requirements and standards.
  • Responsible for all build-related data and its integrity from the field to the Project team.
  • Create and present weekly reports highlighting build compliance and performance across the various workstreams.
  • Ownership of the defect management process through to the final acceptance of rectified defects.
  • Liaison with landowners and Local Authorities.
  • Act as a Quality Assurance representative for the Project Manager and Delivery Manager.
  • Provide detailed information to the Project Manager so that they can monitor, report, and escalate issues within projects.
  • Championing Quality and Health and Safety, promoting and managing excellence in all SHEQ practices.
  • Responsible for the quality standards manual, ensuring relevant updates and distribution of new and relevant information.
  • Manage Toolbox talks, ensuring build standards are understood.
  • Update GIS software with accurate mapping data.
  • Take ownership of the Build Complete documentation.

The Ideal candidate must possess the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working within the Telecoms industry.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Detailed knowledge of XGSPON and point-to-point fibre network architecture.
  • In good health, being able to walk (approx. 5 miles per day).
  • Effective Leadership and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to motivate others effectively.
  • Full UK driving (no more than 6 points).
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to learn new systems.
