Software Development Director

Techunite Ltd are recruiting for a Software Development Director to lead a high performing engineering team (around 6 people). This is working for a global company in the digital space - hybrid remote in Reading. Or open to remote for the right candidate.

You will be leading the product development teams to develop new end-to-end functionality, utilising modern development practises and methodologies.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Strong experience around testing, monitoring, and SLAs best practices ensuring high quality in large-scale distributed web services and smaller scale on-premise deployments
  • Experience in the following technologies is desirable: Knowledge of Linux distributions, (ideally RedHat based); React, JavaScript and TypeScript; PHP, MySQL, .NET, Kotlin; and Azure and/or AWS.
  • At least 7 years of experience in managing software engineering teams using Agile methodology, specifically Scrum
  • Excellent communication skills both internally and externally
  • Demonstrate good attention to detail with a hands-on approach
  • Confident and professional with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Someone who works exceptionally well autonomously and, in a team

Key Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, high-performing team
  • Help develop the roadmap and drive teams to complete the work to the highest level
  • Identify blockages or interruptions and solve them by working with the engineering teams to keep the teams running smoothly
  • Work with other engineers and Product Management to develop plans for integrating products
  • Mentor and grow engineering managers and staff/senior engineers
  • Actively investigate ways the team can evolve to produce higher-quality software at a consistent, sustainable pace
  • Ensure high technical standards through both processes and the culture you instill
