Hybrid working, 2/3 days based in our Birmingham City Centre Office

Summary of role

In this dynamic role the post holder will effectively manage the entire procurement lifecycle, from identifying initial business needs to contract negotiation, development through to advising on vendor management, ensuring that contracts are aligned with business goals and deliver value while mitigating risk.

This dynamic role requires both strategic and operational skills, with a significant hands on component.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake contract precedent reviews, providing mark-up's, drafting amendments, and negotiating agreements and commercial contracts.
  • Lead the procurement function, identifying areas for continuous improvement and managing risk and mitigation within the procurement lifecycle.
  • Leadcomplex procurement exercises, including developing tender documentation, evaluation strategies, supplier assessment, and negotiation of contracts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the best practices are embedded and suppliers are strategically aligned where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Services Director and Chief Finance Officer to ensure all key goals are incorporated into the procurement process.
  • Liaise with colleagues to determine their product and service needs, providing expert advice and guidance to ensure best practice are adopted.
  • Analyse the supply base to identify opportunities to supplier optimisation and efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct in-depth spend analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.

Skills & Experience

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing the full end to end procurement cycle.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing a value for money and agile procurement strategy for a commercial organisation.
  • Experience of negotiating and drafting commercial contracts.
  • Experience of analysing supplier performance and spend data and presenting the key findings in an impactful manner.
