About the Job:

To provide effective and efficient administration support for taxi and private hire driver, operator and vehicle licensing functions within the department.

Key Information

Contract duration: 6 months (View to extend)

Location: Stratford - 2 days a week in the office

Hourly Pay rate: £14.72 PAYE or £18.52 Umbrella

Working days: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

Start date: ASAP

Client: Transport for London

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening, logging and scanning post received by the customer contract centre and allocating the correspondence to the correct team
  • Providing efficient and effective responses to telephone enquiries ensuring all customer calls are answered and dealt with professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Processing and checking new and renewal licence applications in accordance with defined criteria and that customers are kept informed of the progress of their application;
  • Processing of other licence functions such as one year medicals, exemptions, knowledge applicants, licence variations, licence surrenders etc in accordance with the relevant business rules or processes.
  • Issuing or refusing new and renewal driver and operator licenses line with taxi and private hire business rules and escalating cases which fall outside of these defined rules for a prompt decision;
  • Processing of all revocations and suspensions as required in accordance with the relevant business rules or processes.
  • Maintaining both paper and computer records to accurately record personal data and licensing history in accordance with the TPH data retention policy and storage requirements.
  • Collation and maintenance of management information statistics as requested.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • An ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing with excellent interpersonal skills
  • An ability to plan, organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines and targets under own initiative
  • The ability to show discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential information
  • An ability to acquire and keep up to date with specialist knowledge
  • A flexible approach to working practices and the ability to work under pressure
