We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team, working under the instruction and guidance of teaching and senior staff. This role involves supporting learning programmes, particularly for pupils with special needs, and assisting the teacher in managing pupils and the classroom environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, contributing to Individual Education/Behaviour Plans.
  • Foster attractive learning environments and prepare, maintain, and use equipment/resources for lessons.
  • Keep accurate records and observations to maximise pupils' educational benefits.
  • Administer routine tests, invigilate exams, and undertake routine marking of pupils' work.
  • Support pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and encouraging interaction and engagement in activities.
  • Promote self-esteem and independence, providing feedback to pupils on progress and achievement.
  • Assist with planning learning activities, monitoring pupils' responses, and recording achievement/progress.
  • Use strategies to support pupils in achieving learning goals and provide detailed feedback to teachers.
  • Promote good pupil behaviour in line with established policy and encourage responsibility.
  • Establish relationships with parents/carers and provide clerical/administration support for teachers.
  • Support the use of ICT in learning activities and supervise pupils outside of lesson times, including school visits and trips.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to the school's ethos, work, and aims.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of educational and behavioural policies and strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and adapt to pupils' needs.
  • Competence in using ICT and other classroom technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and equal access to learning opportunities.
