My client, a well-established and respected law firm in Coventry, Warwickshire, is seeking a Legal Cashier/Accounts Assistant to join its friendly and professional accounts team. This role is ideal for someone who is focused, self-motivated and ready to provide essential support to ensure the smooth operation of the department. As the successful candidate, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the wider team with day-to-day financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily bank reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and up to date
- Daily Banking: Process client and office receipts and payments efficiently
- Client Bills: Assist with the preparation and processing of client bills, ensuring all entries are correct and compliant
- Inter-Account Transfers: Complete inter-account transfers, ensuring internal transactions are properly logged and reconciled
- Client and Office Transactions: Process client and office financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
- Petty Cash: Manage petty cash, ensuring proper control and reconciliation of funds
- Month-End Routines: Support the completion of month-end routines, including generating profit and loss reports and trial balances
- Payment Processing: Process CHAP/BACS payments and handle inter-account transfers through online banking systems
- Purchase Ledger: Maintain and control the purchase ledger, ensuring all invoices are processed accurately
- Matter Closures: Complete matter closing and archiving routines, ensuring that client files are properly finalised
- Data Entry & Filing: Ensure accurate data entry and proper filing of all financial records
Skills & Experience:
- Strong attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy, and the ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- A team player who can also work independently and manage their workload efficiently
- Flexible and willing to take on additional administrative duties when required
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and clients
- A basic understanding of anti-money laundering and cybercrime awareness
- A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial practices
- Knowledge of the Solicitors' Financial Rules is desirable
- Proficiency in using legal accounting software would be an advantage
