We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Programme Director to lead and manage complex programmes within our defence business. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the defence industry, coupled with significant commercial experience. This role requires strategic vision, operational expertise, and the ability to deliver results in a high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple defence programmes, ensuring they meet technical, financial, and timeline objectives.
  • Commercial Strategy: Develop and implement commercial strategies to optimize programme profitability and sustainability.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, defence contractors, and internal teams.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with programme delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing programme management team.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage programme budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost control.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on programme performance, including financial status, schedule adherence, and risk management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in programme management within the defence industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Commercial Acumen: Proven track record in commercial management, including contract negotiation, financial oversight, and strategic planning.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of defence technologies, systems, and industry standards.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to various audiences.
  • Security Clearance: Eligibility for or possession of a security clearance is required.
