Reed Accountancy are currently supporting a business in Swindon who are looking for an Accountant to join their team and become a role model for our company values. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting the finance team, ensuring operational accounting excellence, and providing financial forecasts and results. This role requires a proactive individual who can improve business processes and effectively plan for future challenges and opportunities.
Day to Day of the role:
- Manage and support the finance team with all accounting requirements.
- Take ownership of the financials, including operational accounting, financial forecasts, and results.
- Maintain accounting processes across various ledgers and manage bank accounts and currency purchases.
- Prepare and reconcile taxation schedules for HMRC, including VAT returns and Irish VAT data.
- Liaise with staff to provide finance support and prepare monthly accounts and intercompany reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end finance reports for Directors and head office.
- Supervise external audits and liaise with the head office finance team.
- Support stock-takes to audit standard requirements and report on departmental performance.
- Produce year-end statutory accounts and assist with consolidated accounts.
- Calculate and schedule Corporation tax payments.
- Integrate accounting systems for new business acquisitions into the existing software.
- Support accounting for acquisitions/disposals and month-end journals, including accruals and prepayments.
- Work with management on the accounting requirements for new developments.
- Improve processes across the company to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support internal audit requirements and financial reporting projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Credible knowledge of business and financial issues.
- Proven ability to develop and improve business processes.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to anticipate future challenges.
- Experience in managing a finance team and preparing financial reports.
- Knowledge of taxation and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
- Italian language skills would be an advantage.
