£34,834 - £41,418* per annum, starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service are excited to recruit a Fire Safety Inspecting Officer with eligibility to access an Apprenticeship programme, serving the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales areas based at Buxton Fire Station.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is a high achieving, dynamic and forward-thinking organisation. During this recruitment process we will be looking for a positive, talented, and motivated individual who will be able to work as part of a forward-looking fire safety team, and individually using their own initiative. This individual will help shape and develop all aspects of fire safety enforcement and knowledge in the years to come. This will ensure that the level of service and fire safety protection offered to the people of Derbyshire continues to be of the highest standard.

The successful candidate will be expected to successfully complete a Fire Safety Inspector Level 4 Apprenticeship programme. The Apprenticeship programme involves completing training courses, achieving competence and gaining skills whilst contributing to delivering the Service's Fire Safety strategy.

As one of our Fire Safety Inspecting Officers you will work with members of the public, diverse community groups and businesses across Derbyshire to provide advice and reduce the risk from fires.

You will be expected to develop and enhance our fire safety team in undertaking fire safety audits, consultations and providing assistance. You will ensure that owners and occupiers of buildings comply with current fire safety regulations, sometimes in challenging situations.

The successful candidates will also be responsible for the future development of fire safety knowledge across the department and wider service. This will include personal training and development, CPD activities, and the coaching and mentoring of other team members through our internal protection development pathways.

All roles provide opportunity for development and offer advancement through the protection career progression criteria. Attendance at training/professional events (sometimes residential) in and out of Derbyshire may be required.

The post holder's will be required to work across the west area of Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service as necessary and must hold a full UK driving licence. A pool car will be provided.

The normal working week is 37 hours per week however, you may occasionally need to work beyond normal office hours and at evenings and weekends as required.
