The company are experiencing significant growth and this will create genuine opportunities for individual growth to Director level.

After many years in the industry they are trusted suppliers to many companies around the world for their bespoke products that are built on site.

Due to continued growth, and replacement, they are now seeking an Operations Manager to work on exciting projects within the business.

The role heads up areas such as:-

  • Production
  • Supply Chain
  • SHEQ

Responsibilities:-

As a member of the senior management team, your role involves managing and coordinating activities that support the operations. You will be a pivotal part of the team, working collaboratively in a customer-centric and business-savvy capacity, efficiently managing the operations of the business, whilst employing a logical and methodical problem solving approach and a continual improvement approach.

The role will require a strong, resilient leader to collaborate with all departments of the company and implement and drive process organisation and change in a rapidly growing business. It is also expected that you'll help drive key performance metrics such as Safety, Quality, Cost, People and Environment that supports the overall sites business strategy.

The role will form a part of the senior management team of the business and inclusion in key business decision making. The business has strategies for significant growth, providing the role for opportunities for future progression.

Purpose:-

With responsibility for operations, supply chain, safety and quality assurance, add value through optimisation of daily business operations, and generate a culture of continuous improvement.

Key relationships:-

External - Supply chain & logistics providers

Internal - The business management team, and 4 direct reports. Overall team of 21.

Budget responsibility:-

Full budget accountability for supply chain and operations. Budget circa £16m for FY25.

Main responsibilities:

  • Prioritise Health & Safety in all decision making.
  • Lead a team of 20+ with 4 direct reports and responsibility for operations/manufacturing, supply chain, quality and safety
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement through empowerment, coaching and the building & development of a team.
  • Drive LEAN manufacturing and efficiencies through proven Six Sigma and/or LEAN ideology, with a goal to reduce cost per unit, improve inventory control and elimination of waste.
  • Set strategies and KPI's for driving operations performance
  • P&L responsibility for operations and supply chain
  • Organising operations and supply chain in accordance with the business S&OP process.

Key attributes:

  • Experience of LEAN/Sigma management systems
  • Experience of leading operations within a capital goods environment
  • Experience of leading a supply chain team, including sourcing and price negotiation
  • Experience of successfully managing a team of both operation and administration functions.
  • Competency of build and resource planning
  • Operating a budget
  • Experience of driving a business through key KPI's
  • Experience of facilitating and coordinating logistics and inventory management
  • Financially astute
  • Project management experience an advantage, with a move to an all-new facility scheduled for late 2024
  • Managing Capital Expenditure
  • Experience of MS office & MRP systems
