Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Homelessness Support Worker to join our Afghan Resettlement Scheme. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting families who are new to the UK, helping them settle into their new environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Home Visits: Visit families in their homes or temporary apartments across Manchester.
- Utility and Financial Support: Assist families with setting up utility bills, maintaining payments, and managing council tax.
- Universal Credit: Provide support with Universal Credit applications and regularly check their UC journal.
- Education and Healthcare: Help families apply for school places and register with a GP.
- Rent Management: Regularly check rent accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
- Safeguarding: Maintain a good knowledge of safeguarding practices to ensure the safety and well-being of the families.
Requirements:
- Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to support people from different cultural backgrounds.
- Immediate Availability: Candidate must be available to start immediately.
