Procurement Assistant

Day-to-Day responsibilities of the Role:

  • Purchase goods and services aligning with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Ensure compliance with the organisation's Procurement Policy and purchase-to-pay processes.
  • Serve as the interface between suppliers and internal departments for purchasing transactions.
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders as requested by the business.
  • Resolve issues related to price, quality, delivery, or invoices with suppliers.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and manage communications effectively.
  • Undertake data maintenance and cover administration on the Procurement SharePoint site.
  • Support the wider procurement team with administration on larger procurements, contracts, or renewals.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a purchasing role, preferably within a public sector environment.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding, and cost breakdown.
  • Ability to independently manage workload and add value through identifying cost reductions and business improvements.
  • Proficient in computer use; experience with SAP Business by Design is beneficial.
  • Desirable: Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), or studying towards CIPS qualification.
