Management Accountant

Job Title: Management Accountant

(Band 5) (£30,000 - £36,000)

Responsible to: Finance Manager

Directorate: Older People's and Adult Community (OPAC)

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Produce accurate and timely financial reports in line with monthly and year-end timetables.
  • Budget Management: Assist in budget-setting and maintenance for a portfolio of services, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Best Value Programmes: Support the Delivering Best Value programme for assigned services.
  • Cost Analysis: Perform service costings, cost-benefit analyses, and evaluate business cases.
  • Financial Advice: Provide financial management advice to budget holders, ensuring accurate financial forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Financial Controls: Ensure robust financial controls, maintain the integrity of financial systems, and support anti-fraud initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Establish effective working relationships with budget holders, offering guidance on financial issues.
  • Business Planning: Assist in the financial aspects of service business plans and support the production of business cases.

Requirements

  • AAT Qualified or equivalent experience
  • Compliance with CPD requirements
  • Desirable Qualifications:
  • Ambition to gain further professional qualification (e.g., CCAB part-qualified)
  • Finance experience within NHS or similar non-profit organizations
  • Proficient in financial systems and processes
  • Experience analysing financial and non-financial data
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting data to non-finance managers
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and financial systems
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
  • Proactive, logical, methodical, and detail-oriented
  • Strong emotional intelligence and self-awareness
